Vestavia Wrestling Club going strong

 The Vestavia Wrestling Club is going strong and just completed competing in the 5th tournament of the season.  We've had tournaments at Homewood, Clay, Hoover, Alabaster and Trussville.  Vestavia has had a good number of medal winnners at each tournament.  There are 6 tournaments left on the schedule.  Under the leadership of Coach Christian Staylor, we expect to keep those winners coming.  Congrats to all of the wrestlers who have participated!  You've all made us proud!  

Celtics get Herndon and make the impossible

Two records were broken in the game versus Celtics vs Tar Heels.

Sam Herndon dribbled the ball over 1354 times. Breaking a 1956 record by Brooklyns YMCA on 45th street...

And the impossible became possible.  with 3/10ths of a second left in the game, a quick pass shoot score happened for 3 pts.  Yes, what physics have said are simply not true.  you can score a jump shot in 3/10ths of a second.  Everyone could have seen it on Monday night..Eli Gurner withhis qiuck hand shot pulled it off and still had a few hundreths of a second left on the clock

Heading into Week 2--Recap

OK...here is what we are learning.  Coach Cherry and The Magic are the team to beat but there are a few teams that can give them a run for their money..\

Rumors..Coach Mareks Heat is a good team and they have been practicing 3 times this week due to Mareks rival of Coach Dinga and the Celtics.  The rivalry started years ago and Marek has lost by 2, 3, 1 pt each time...should be a good one since Mareks team is practing every week and Coach Dingas team concentrates on their studies during the early part of each season..

Coach Spain continues to suprise the league by winning again and beating a very good Lakers team.  Early contender for Coach of the Year...

How did Coach Spurrier get Coach of the Year?  this makes no sense losing 4 and playing a bad SEC schedule compared to other years...Chizik..?  a team not even rated in the top 20 in many polls/

Ok..back to basketball..

A few opinions unrelated to a certain team.

Tonight, the gym was freezing...every one had a jacket on and I think it was 40 degrees in there tonight (wednesday)..

And...shirt color coordinating...we have quite a few jerseys that are EXACTLY the same in color..i think this needs to be addressed next year...ok..off my soapbox...

Baskets open up for 4th grade...

A lot of landslide victories..one close game out of 6...either we have a lopsided group of teams this year or we simply have a lot of teams not ready yet.....

on another note..opening day, we have a photo of a player who jumped 3 feet in the air...
