Vestavia American Red Record: 6-6

From the Coach:

Although the final score wasn't what they had hoped, Vestavia Red showed touches of brilliance offensively thanks to Michael Vice and Jake Fowler (1st out of park homeruns); and Jackson Smith wowed the crowd with his grand slam bomb over center field. Defensive kudos to Chance Stephenson (pitcher), Leo Zhang (for filling in fantasticly for the ill Cameron Monistere) and of course, the toughest 8-year old in the south, Weyman Prater. He has the shiner to prove it. A hard hit grounder to the eye and one inning later is back on the field at short stop. WOW!!!! Can't wait to see the shades of blue and black on that eye when we see him Wed for the Metro Tournament. Vestavia Red has worked out some kinks and are ready to compete. The team and its' coaches are having fun and are looking forward to the game Wed everning against Trussville White.

Great group of kids; awesome coaches and cool parents...what more could a team ask for. Vestavia Red is getting better every game and is easing into a nice "groove" prior to the Metro tourney. Smiles, popcorn huddles and wins are in our future!!! Always remember... No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda
