From the Coach:
The Rebels were short handed on Sunday for the Seed game vs. Trussville Red. Already playing without Walker Warren ( two broken arms ), they lost the services of Thomas Anderson who became ill during Saturday's game and was diagnosed with a sinus / ear infection. The Rebels dug deep and put on a good show for their fans! Cole Marek continued his torrid hitting with a deep shot off the wall in the 2nd inning with bases loaded scoring all three base runners and leaving him with a standup double. The defense was led by Reilly Kimbrough (1B) making multiple plays throughout the day and tremendous athletic plays from Tanner Carlson ( SS ) and Grant Cacace ( 3B ) keeping the game close waiting for the offense to get going. Trailing 12 - 8 in the bottom of the 6th, the rally caps came out and the Rebels sent Douglas Thompson to the plate to start the rally. Douglas delivered a missle to Left Center Field to set the tone of the inning. Tanner Carlson promptly followed with a screamer to Center Field leaving 1st and 2nd with nobody out! Connor Dobbins laced one to Left Field scoring Douglas Thompson and cutting the lead to 12 - 9. Grant Cacace sacrificed to the right side of the infield moving the runners to 2B and 3B with 1 out. Will Pietrantoni ripped a line shot that hit the line in Left Field prompting Coach Marek "its fair" and scoring Carlson and Dobbins and leaving Pietrantoni with a standup double and trimming the lead to 12 - 11 with only 1 out. The fans were in a total frenzy at this point and were smelling the rally! James Hancock sacrificed a shot to the right side moving the tying run to 3B with 2 outs. Quaid Rasmussen was next. Quaid had already caught all 6 innings and the Rebels needed his 3rd hit of the game to tie the score and he promptly delivered with an infield shot! At this point, Carlson has lost control of the dugout and fans are ready to storm the field as the score is tied 12 - 12, but the coaches want to get control and end it in the 6th. Coach Anderson restores order and Hollis Macoy beats out an infield single to set up 1st and 2nd with 2 outs and the red hot Reilly Kimbrough to the plate. Reilly smokes one to Left Center Field for his 4th hit of the game scoring Rasmussen and comleting the comeback, 13 - 12!
